Peter George Guinness Kissel


Son of Frederick Templeton Manheim Kissel and Isabel Hindmarsh Guinness. .

Born in 1923, the thirteenth year of the reign of King George V, and died aged forty in the eleventh year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II  He has 8 direct descendants in the family.

Biography


Peter George Guinness Kissel was born in 1923, his father, Frederick, was 42 and his mother Isabel, was 34. He was engaged twice .Before he met and married Susan Felicity Turtil aged 34 and she was only 17 .They had one son and two daughters.. He died on 3 July 1963 in Kaimai, Bay of Plenty, at the age of 40 on the NAC Flight 441 lost on a flight from Auckland to Tauranga with a loss of 23 lives - 20 passengers and 3 crew. Later that night wreckage was spotted in the Kaimai Ranges. It was the first time that a helicopter had been used in New Zealand to help with Search and Rescue. A memorial to the crash was dedicated on 5 July 2003, the 40th anniversary of the crash.
